Historical Event on 10/1/1932

Indian Milatary Academy became functional with Brigadier LP Collins, DSO, OBE as the Commandant. The first course of 40 GCs had on its rolls Sam Manekshaw, Smith Dun and Mohd Musa, later to be Chiefs of the armies of their respective countries, i.e. India, Burma (now Myanmar) and Pakistan. This training was for a period of two and a half years.

1/18/1999The office of the Board of Control for Cricket in India is ransacked allegedly by Shiv Sainiks protesting agains Pakistan team's tour of India. Shiv Sena denies hand in attack.
7/8/1918Montagu - Chelmsford Report was published. This report was prepared to reform the legislature of India. This report was made by Edwin Montagu who was the Secretary of States for India and Lord Chelmsford, who was the Viceroy.

7/6/1935Dalai Lama, the 14th incarnate and religious leader of Tibet, was born. He was born to Tenzin Gyotso (His Holiness the VIVth Dalai Lama) in Taksten Village, Chhija Nangso, Tibet. He was awarded with Nobel Prize for Peace in 1989.
7/24/1996Govt. decides to raise the ceiling on the maximum amount of retirement/death gratuity from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2.50 lakhs.
12/1/1894Bhim Sen Sachar, freedom fighter, leader and Chief Minister of Punjab, was born.
1/11/1966Lal Bahadur Shastri was posthumously awarded the ""Bharat Ratna"".
2/3/1900Tiruvenkata Rajendra Seshadri, one of the founders of Organic Chemistry in India, was born at Kulittalai in Tamil Nadu.
