7/25/1997	Laloo Yadav resigns as Bihar Chief Minister after CBI-designated court issues an arrest warrant against him in fodder scam case. His wife, Rabri Devi, is sworn in as his successor. She becomes first woman Chief Minister of the State.

1/19/1985	Dr. P. C. Alexander, principal secretary to the PM, quits following the arrest of three aides in an espionage case.
4/15/1975	Janata Party's `People's March' to Parliament.
1/14/1761	The third and last battle of Panipat, fought between the Marathas and the Afghan invader Ahmad Shah Abadli, started. The Marathas lost 28,000 soldiers and were virtually routed in North India thus ending the Maratha hegemony.
