Historical Event on 5/22/1961
Jnanpeeth Award was instituted and the first award was given in 1965. This award is given for the best creative literary writing by any Indian citizen in any of the languages included in the VIII Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The award carries a cash price of Rs 2.5 lakh, a citation and a bronze momento.

3/6/1915	Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore met for the first time at Shantiniketan.
3/31/1964	Tram-way service ended in Mumbai (Bombay). This last electric tram left Bori Bunder (CST) for Dadar at 10 p.m., crowds lined the route all the way at that late hour to bid farewell to the common man's transport medium.
11/8/1988	At 0910 hrs, One - O - Four's moments of glory were frozen for eternity when it received the coveted colours from the then President of Indian R Venkatraman.
1/19/1931	The first Round Table Conference held in London ended. This conference was attended by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar also.
