Kolkata, March 28 (IANS) Geological Survey of India (GSI) Director General M. Sridhar here on Saturday urged the organisation's staffers to contribute one day's salary from the pay bills of April towards the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF), set up to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an appeal to the GSI officials, Sridhar said: "In this difficult situation, all of us should stand united to deal with the crisis and strengthen the hands of government. As always, GSI shall do its bit in the fight against COVID-19.
"In this regard, it's an appeal to all members of the GSI family to come forward and contribute generously to the PMNRF."
He requested all the head of departments and the Deputy Director Generals of six different regions to implement it in their respective regions.
Contributions to the PMNRF are 100 per cent exempted from income-tax under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
