4/1/1935The Reserve Bank of India was established as a Central Bank and the job of issuing notes was entrusted to this bank. The Commissioner's office which issued currency was abolished and was substituted by the Governer of the RBI. The issue offices scattered around the country came to be called as the regional offices of the Reserve Bank.
11/12/1762Peshwa surrendered in Battle of Alegaon.
10/2/1957All India Scheduled Caste Federation formally dissolved and a new political party 'Republican Party of India' was formed.
11/12/1930First 'Round Table Conference' started in London. Only Muslim League party was present in the conference and there were no representative of Congress. 16 Indian Kings, 23 British representatives and other 56 Indians took part in this conference. The Muslim League consisted of Sir Agha Khan, Mohammed Ali Jauhar, Quaid-e-Azam, Sir Mohammed Shafi, Fazl-ul-Haq, Chaudhary Zafarullah and Ghulam Hussain.

8/30/1979Earl Louis Mountbatten of Burma, a World War II hero, last British Viceroy in India and the first Governor General of independent India, was killed when Irish terrorists exploded his family fishing boat off the coast of Ireland. The Provisional wing of the Irish Republican Army immediately took credit for the killing, which it described as 'an execution' designed to further 'the noble struggle to drive the British intruders out of our native land'.

3/22/1942Both Congress and Muslim League refused Cripps Mission offer. Congress adopts Quit India Resolution. Cripps Commission came to India which was preceded by Sir Stephard Crips to find out a political formula for transfer of power to Indians.
