Historical Event on 3/15/1998

Mr. Vajpayee is appointed Prime Minister. The number of MPs supporting the formation of a government by the BJP stands at 264 in a house of 539, just short of the working majority of 270. However, the President sees the figure as crossing the half-way mark as the Telugu Desam decides to remain neutral. Earlier, the Congress(I) conveys to the President its decision not to stake claim to form a government.

9/7/1931The Second Round Table conference began in London and lasted till 1st December, 1931. Congress was solely represented by Gandhi and Muslim League by Sir Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam. Two committees were set up to carry out the work of the conference on Federal Structure and Minorities. Gandhi was the member of both the committees. He claimed that being the sole representative of the Congress, he represented the whole of India. Quaid-e-Azam replied that Muslims are a separate nation. Sir Shafi demanded that the 14 points of Quaid-e-Azam be incorporated in the future constitution.
3/2/1949Sarojini Naidu, ""Nightingale of India"", freedom fighter, social worker and patriot, passed away when she was the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. She also holds a place of pride among the women freedom fighters of India. She presided over the Kanpur session of Indian National Congress. She took active part in Salt Satyagraha and represented Indian women in Round Table Conference, London, 1931.
